I love nothing more than to spend hours combing through a jewelry supply warehouse - in search of inspiration. I'm inspired by the materials, my imagination and my love of design. From baroque to mid-century modern, from ancient etruscan art to organic Karim Rashid shapes - I love beautiful things equally and bring that passion to my jewelry design.

Each piece of original handmade jewelry from Romeo & Jewels is created by me in my Los Angeles studio. I personally road-test a prototype of each handmade jewel to make sure it's wearable, that it's durable and that it makes me feel good. I will sometimes design a gorgeous piece with a new bead discovery - only to find that it tarnishes, or gets bent out of shape easily. Those items never make it on romeoandjewels.com.

I like to design jewelry with materials that are made well and that will last - sterling silver, 14 karat gold fill, precious gems, murano glass, vintage beads, natural stones, cubic zirconias, and the finest austrian crysals - Swarovski crystals. I imagine these pieces being passed down through generations as heirloom jewelry pieces - each generation inspired to wear them in their own way.

How it all started...

Growing up in Europe and Canada, I learned to accessorize at a young age (as evidenced by this picture - Thanks Mom!). I had always loved jewelry, spending my summers at my aunt's and grandma's trying on all the jewelry in their ample jewelry boxes. My aunt fondly remembered this ritual and even left me her jewelry box and all it's contents in her will.

I started making jewelry after first working with Swarovski flatback rhinestones to customize id tags for work (www.idcharm.com). Fascinated by one particular aqua-colored Swarovski pendant at one of my supplier's stores, the shop girl grabbed some wire and her tools and showed me how to wirewrap. That night, I went home and made my first necklace. Wore it the next day, got dozens of compliments - and I've never looked back!

Now based in sunny Los Angeles, I spend my days dreaming up fabulous handmade jewelry designs and touching up my tan in my sporty little convertible.
